WHO WE ARE

Calvary Church has been actively serving the people of Toronto from the Pape and Danforth community for over 90 years now, and from the very beginning it has experienced God’s blessing. Calvary began with Reverend William Nisbet accepting a call to remain in Canada (and not return to his native Ireland) to be the pastor of a new church in Toronto. From its inception, Calvary Church had a large Sunday School that reached hundreds of children in the community.

Calvary Church Toronto joined the Associated Gospel Churches (AGC) of Canada in 1935, a Canadian denomination comprised of over 150 evangelical churches across Canada.

During the last 50 years, the church has built two senior complexes that are attached to the facility. Nisbet Lodge is a long-term care facility and McClintock Manor is a retirement home. The church has also helped birth two other AGC churches as well as an Italian church, a Spanish church, a Greek church and has most recently been host to an evangelical Ethiopian church.

I am thankful for the rich heritage of Calvary Church and I am excited to be the eighth senior Pastor that God has brought here to this church.

Rev. Daniel J. Winter
Senior Pastor
